The wine was aged in French Oak barriques for just over 11 months, of which 32% was new oak.

Dark purple, with purple hues; perfumed dark fruit, such as plums and cherry, with violets and a hint of spicy oak on the nose. Rich, sweet brambly fruit on the palate, with some dried herbs and spice. A medium bodied, mouth-filling wine with supple, velvety tannins and a long lingering finish.
Additional tasting notes
Fabulously ripe and sensuous, the bouquet shows game, dark fruits and floral, leading to a powerful, sturdy palate. Lovely focus and density – Air New Zealand Wine Awards 2012
